Privacy Policy

The short version: your CV never leaves your device, which matters, because a CV is personal data at its most personal.

Your CV

The builder runs entirely inside your web browser. Everything you type, including your name, contact details, work history, and photo, is never uploaded to our servers (we don't have any that receive data). It is kept in your browser's local storage on your own device, and in the data files you choose to download. Clearing your browser data removes it; we couldn't recover it even if you asked, because we never had it.

The PDF

The PDF is generated by your own browser's print engine, on your device. The finished document goes straight from your browser to your disk and is never seen by us.

What this site keeps on your device

Nothing in this site's own code sets a cookie. What your browser does keep is a copy of the site itself, so the pages still open when your connection drops: the pages you have visited, the styles, the code and the fonts. Depending on which tools you have opened that runs from a couple of hundred kilobytes to several megabytes. Your browser files all of it under "Cookies and site data", which is why the figure there can look surprising, but it is this site's own code, not a record of you. On top of that the builder autosaves your CV, under the name cvkit-data-v1, so closing a tab does not cost you your work. That entry holds everything you have typed: your name, your contact details, your work history and your photo. It never leaves this device, we never receive it, and the Start fresh button deletes it. If you share a file into the installed app, that file waits in a small database in your browser until the tool picks it up, and is deleted straight after. To remove everything, clear this site's data in your browser settings. The site will simply fetch what it needs again next time.

Advertising

This site is free because of advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to choose and measure ads. Those are set on Google's own domains, not on this one, which is why they never appear under this site's stored data. The ads never see anything you do here. You can read how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and turn off ad personalisation for your Google account at adssettings.google.com.

Fonts and analytics

The page fonts come from Google Fonts, so opening a page tells Google's font servers your IP address and which font was asked for. Nothing else is sent, and your browser caches the files afterwards. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

Visits are counted by Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, which is how we know when a page is slow or a tool is worth keeping. Neither sets a cookie. What they collect, and how long it is kept, is set out in Vercel's privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy. The same counter records that a tool produced a result and which tool it was, never a file name, a size, or anything you typed.

No accounts, and how to reach us

There are no accounts, no sign-up and no newsletter. There is also nothing for us to delete on request, because we never receive a copy of anything you type: it stays on your device. If you have a question about any of this, there is an email address on the contact page that reaches a person.
